festival for sounds of yamoy, nantes, france

wow! this has been one of the best responses we have ever received at a show or venue
everyone take note, this festival does it right

the line-up included do make say think, clues (members of arcade fire & the unicorns), and benoit pioulard; previous years have hosted animal collective, marissa nadler and many others

when we arrived, the venue was extremely warm, and we were fed a variety of vegan options

the venue was a small coffeeshop & bar - so many people were packed into the room
(this was posted by an audience member):

at one point everyone sitting started getting up to stand
rachel and i both thought (probably from our damaging sxsw experiences) that another band was starting and everyone was going to see them
we found out later, people who wanted to see us were unable to and everyone was simply making room

the audience was so wonderful; they loved the performance

everything in nantes uses old buildings
one of the larger venues was an old textile factory

more posts later!

paris

i don't even know how to start writing about this city;
it's everything you've heard and more.
Rachel and I are celebrating our 2nd anniversary here!

(view from our apartment!)

everyone warned us that eating vegan would be difficult in europe
in paris it's not true

while the vegan community is not bound together, we found several spots that are amazing

(goat brie & honey not vegan)

people have compared it to new york, but there is no comparison;

dave - check out these cars that were in font of the eiffel tower!

classic!

we also had a romantic picnic under the tower!

the show with the black feathers was awesome - i think rachel has all of the clips/photos

finally, when leaving, remi from sleep talker had us by for coffee
we needed some feline energy!

and finally, i noticed there was a problem with my shoes after hoofing it across the city for days

au revoir for now

nowhere home, just like home

after germany, we arrived in namur belgium
the event was a house show, hosted by jeremie & camille (nowhere home show)

namur is a tiny riverside town, beautiful and ancient

the show was great, despite some technical problems with our ps-20's built in drum machine
everyone was warm and receptive

we loved their house
everywhere you turned, there was another example of classic industrial design

and of course, a home is not a home without a feline friend

also, camille helps a local organic farm!
of course, we had no time to talk about this, as we had to leave for paris!

more updates soon!

koln, disco pizza, etc....

we stopped in koln to see secret shine.
of course, the drive was about 6 hours, so we missed the show, but we were able to experience the one and only disco pizza (our name) at la strada (again, i belive rachel has the photos for this).

the koln train system is incredible.

i wish austin's train stations were this great!
oh..... right

and finally, we payed a visit to the amazing dom, a gothic cathedral in the center of town
